Two historic gifts have been sent by AMOR Umbrella, the first to the Vice-President of the United States, and the second to the Governor’s spouse of Florida. Both gifts were sent to represent the 2 million+ veteran women who feel left behind and unnoticed. The first gift was sent during the week of Veterans Day and the week of Thanksgiving in 2021, deliberately to make a statement and was sent from the post office a few steps away from the Boston Tea Party. This gift was unique because it brought together people from all walks of life, including military personnel from all branches, entrepreneurs, artists, and scientists. They collaborated to advocate for a holistic approach to life and mental health. The mission was accomplished, and the cause was dear to the founder’s heart, so it continues to bring attention to this matter.
The second gift was sent during the week of Memorial Day in 2021 to the Governor’s spouse of Florida. This gift was intended to represent not only the 2 million+ veteran women but also the military spouses who are often overlooked. Both gifts were functional art masterpieces and public records but were unfortunately not acknowledged. AMOR Umbrella named these two gifts the Amor umbrella gift initiatives.
Makissa Lewis, the founder of My Seester, proposed the idea for the first gift to be a heart-shaped umbrella signed by several Florida women veterans and sent to the White House. Florida is the third state with one of the largest populations of women veterans. The founder, who is a veteran herself, was honored by the suggestion and embarked on a year-long journey to make it a reality. The signed umbrella was a tribute to the brave women who have served the country and symbolized the company’s gratitude and support for them.
Throughout the year, AMOR Umbrella collaborated with various organizations to host events and gather signatures for the umbrella. They even had the opportunity to film a two-part episode that highlights the incredible work that Fishing with America’s Finest and its founder, CPT Neal Stark, do for veterans and their families. This episode is now available for viewing on their YouTube channel, and it highlights the importance of giving back to those who have sacrificed so much for the country.
The second gift was created with Mrs. Casey DeSantis, the wife of veteran Ron DeSantis and the Honorable Governor of Florida’s first family, in mind. It was a collection of festive and historic gifts presented by AMOR Umbrella, Civilian Minorities, and Veteran Small Owned Businesses to celebrate Mrs. DeSantis’ successful recovery from breast cancer and express gratitude to the DeSantis family for their unwavering leadership and dedication. The gift was a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness and compassion.
The specially curated gift included a heart-shaped pink AMOR umbrella, symbolizing cancer awareness, and was personally signed by numerous veterans and military women. It also included a handmade leather travel case crafted by Donald Dodson, a skilled artisan. The gesture conveyed appreciation and demonstrated how communities can come together to support and uplift one another during challenging times. It serves as a beautiful and meaningful way to express support, respect, and heartfelt appreciation for the first family of Florida. Let’s celebrate the stories and experiences of our women veterans and come together to show our appreciation and support for these incredible individuals who have served the country with distinction.
