Have you heard of the Purple Heart and Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act of 2018? 

That is the new legislation introduced by U.S. Senators Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) and John Boozman (R-Ark.) in July 12, 2018 that will provide eligible Veterans and Primary Family Caregivers with access to DoD and Coast Guard commissaries, exchanges, and morale, welfare, and recreation retail services. It will be effective starting on Jan. 1, 2020. 

  • Purple Heart recipients
  • Former prisoners of war
  • All veterans with service-connected disabilities
  • Individuals approved and designated as the primary family caregivers of eligible veterans under the Department of Veterans Affairs Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers
